As the high school track season finishes up around the country, here's a quick look at how some of the incoming Notre Dame football players did.
DJ Hord (right - #735) finished second in the Missouri State Finals in the 100M dash with a time of 10.68 seconds. He also placed third overall in the 200M dash with a time of 21.53. His 4x100 relay team grabbed a third place finish with a time of 42.43.
David Bruton placed third in the 400M dash in the Ohio State Finals with a time of 48.48 seconds. He also placed fifth in the 200M with a time of 22.12 and sixth in Long Jump with 21-11.75. His 4x400 relay team ran 3:23.90, which was good enough for an eleventh place finish.
Asaph Schwapp made it to the Connecticut State Finals in shot put with throw of 48.07, but did not finish in the Top 10 in the final meet.
David Grimes finished third in the state of Michigan in the 100M dash with a time of 11.19 seconds. His 800M relay team finished first in the state with a time of 1:29.83 seconds. They also finished first in the 400M relay with a time of 43.32. Individually, Grimes finished fourth in the 400M with 51.00. His high school team won the overall state champsionship.
Joey Hiben won the state title in Minnesota in Shot Put with a throw of 56-08.75 feet. It was his third trip to the State Finals after competing in them as a sophomore and junior in shot put and the 110M hurdles.
